The 50×50mm square steel post is a compact, lightweight fencing post suited to standard residential Colorbond fencing and lighter-duty boundary applications. Its square profile creates a clean, modern appearance that suits contemporary fencing designs.

FPM Building Supplies stocks square steel posts in 50×50mm and larger sizes for fencing projects across Victoria.

What Is a 50×50mm Square Steel Post?

A 50×50mm square steel post is a hollow square section (SHS) steel post with a 50mm × 50mm cross-section. It is galvanised for outdoor and in-ground use and is designed for use as a fence post in lighter-duty fencing applications.

When to Use a 50×50mm Post

50×50mm posts are suited to:

• Standard residential Colorbond fencing at 1.8m height in typical conditions
• Lightweight boundary fencing
• Garden and decorative fencing
• Applications where a smaller, less obtrusive post profile is preferred

For taller fences, fences in exposed locations, or fences subject to significant loads, a larger post section (65×65mm, 75×75mm or 100×100mm) may be required.

Available Colours

Square steel posts are available in Colorbond colours to match your fence sheets and rails, including Monument, Woodland Grey, Night Sky and Basalt.

Square Post vs C-Channel Post

Square posts have a clean, square profile that is visible at the fence line. They suit contemporary fencing designs where the post is a visible design element.

C-channel posts have a channel profile designed to accept Colorbond fence rails. They are the standard post for most Colorbond fencing systems.

The choice between the two depends on the fencing system being used and the desired aesthetic.
